The Globe Theatre

Music is what feelings sound like... The Globe stands today forlorn and neglected,  once hosted stars like Buddy Holly, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, Jimi Hendrix and most famously The Beatles in 1963 on the night President Kennedy was assassinated. These are my 1st shots of the interior before the start of a major re-launch to be one of the largest live entertainment and performance venues in the North East.

"Walking about was an ordeal as a lot of it is in almost total darkness. Lots of pigeon shit to dodge and it’s been flooded for quite a number of years so the whole place smells damp. Not quite the bubblegum flavoured trip back in time I'd envisaged, although shooting the original wooden stage floor close ups did make me think about the music icons that have tread those boards".
